Summer Is On At Sustain!

Acclaimed Midtown Miami Dining Spot Launches Nightly Happy Hour, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Since opening in late December 2010, Sustain Restaurant + Bar, Midtown Miami’s eco-conscious culinary hotspot by restaurateurs Brian Goldberg and managing partner Jonathan Lazar, has received local and national acclaim for its modern décor and straightforward progressive American fare, created by executive chef Alejandro Piñero. Now, just before summer officially kicks-off, the restaurant’s sommelier and beverage director, Daniel Toral, has introduced an exciting nightly Happy Hour, sure to add some heat to any summer time, after-work get-together.

Currently in place, Sustain’s Happy Hour, offered seven days a week from 5 p.m. –

7:30 p.m. consists of half-priced house spirits, beer, and select wine by the glass as well as innovative hand-crafted retro cocktails - made with "cocktail condiments" like black pepper tincture, rosemary tincture, and fruit bitters. Cocktails such as the Pearly Gates, a mix of Tanqueray gin, Solerno, Cocchi Americano, lemon, crème de violette, and blossom; and the 1933, made with Compass Box Orangerie, Heering Cherry, Dolin Rouge, egg white, lemon, Angostura bitters, are specially priced at $6 each.

Co-sponsored by Ketel One, every Wednesday guests are invited to sip on sexy cocktails, priced at $5 each. Guests can pair their favorite featured cocktails with bar bites, including classic corn dogs served with a Dijon mustard; fried chickpeas dressed with an aromatic herb oil; and tasty meatballs in a mushroom gravy served in a cast iron skillet. Each offering, priced at $3, is specially prepared by talented executive chef Alejandro Piñero, whose cuisine has received stellar reviews by local restaurant critics and impressive national kudos in The Miami Herald (3.5 stars), Miami New Times, and New York Times online and Details.com, among others.

In addition to Sustain’s new happy hour, the restaurant has just rolled out fragrant new menu items ($6-$12), ranging from snapper tartare, prepared with cucumber and a light tomato confit; a refreshing gazpacho made with heirloom tomato, cucumber, onion; a crisp watercress salad, comprised of watermelon, candied peanuts, Blue Sunshine blue cheese, and a Champagne vinaigrette. A must-try new side, hearty BBQ beans, is sure to please.
