Rusty Pelican & Whiskey Joe’s Celebrate Major Milestone With Throwback Menu

Founded in 1958 by World War II veteran David Tallichet, Specialty Restaurants Corporation (SRC) is one of the country’s leading restaurant groups, boasting a stable of nineteen successful restaurants, from coast-to-coast. One of the most iconic of the group is waterfront dining destination Rusty Pelican on Key Biscayne alongside its sister restaurant Whiskey Joe’s.

To help celebrate the company’s 60th anniversary, both Rusty Pelican and Whiskey Joe’s will be offering a bevy of special promotions so everyone can get in on the celebration. From Monday, October 8 to Sunday, October 21, diners can enjoy a special Throwback Menu featuring the most popular Polynesian themed items from The Reef, SRC’s first restaurant. The retro menu will feature items such as Crab Cake with Tiki Sauce ($10); Teriyaki Steak ($19.58) and Pineapple Cheesecake ($6). Of course, the party wouldn’t be complete without a classic Mai Tai ($6). In addition, on Thursday, October 11 guests can sip on Dave’s Margaritas for only $0.60 (limit 2 per person and must accompany the purchase an appetizer or entrée).

The observances continue into the holiday season with community initiatives for each SRC concept. The Spirit of the Holidays Community Charity Event is inspired by the philanthropic efforts for over the last 30 years where The Reef, SRC’s first restaurant, collaborated with the Salvation Army to welcome the Long Beach community to dine on Christmas Day at the restaurant. In the spirit of giving, SRC is extending this program company-wide. Both Rusty Pelican and Whiskey Joe’s will donate 6% of restaurant profits from part of November to a local charity, in order to support efforts in providing holiday meals to the community’s less fortunate.

“We’re immensely proud to commemorate our 60th year and want to thank all of our guests and the South Florida community for supporting Rusty Pelican and Whiskey Joe’s,” remarks SRC President John Tallichet. “We are forever grateful that our patrons have made us a part of their lives, for their own momentous occasions, and we invite the community to celebrate with us in October and help us give back to those in need in November. The family at SRC looks forward to the next sixty years!”
