The Rum Line Set to Open November 6, 2014

THE RUM LINE MAKES ITS DEBUT ON MIAMI BEACH

Al fresco cocktail destination to open to the public on Thursday, November 6

Miami Beach’s highly-anticipated new watering hole, The Rum Line, will open to the public on Thursday,November 6, 2014 at Loews Miami Beach Hotel. The Caribbean-inspired al fresco bar by acclaimed New York City restaurateurs John McDonald, Joshua Pickard and Josh Capon of Mercer Street Hospitality (Lure Fishbar – SoHo and South Beach, El Toro Blanco and Bowery Meat Company) and local restaurant operators Seth Alexander and Sol Alvarez (Prime 112, The Forge and The Dutch Miami), are proud to introduce this unique concept and private event space to South Florida’s evolving libations scene.

At the helm of The Rum Line’s inventive cocktail program is award-winning Bar Director, Rob Ferrara, who has received numerous accolades including the title of "Best Bartender" from Miami New Times. “The origin of the bar’s name hails from the prohibition era when ships from the Caribbean transported rum to Florida’s coasts to supply the speakeasies,” says Ferrara. “We’re bringing back the rum renaissance by paying homage to Hemingway and the brilliant minds of that time with classic cocktails at an accessible price, in a laid-back environment.”

The eclectic bar menu will showcase original and long lost recipes from the 1930s to the 1960s including signaturepunches in scorpion bowls, hand-shaken daiquiris such as the famed Hemingway Daiquiri with Bacardi Heritage, Luxardo Maraschino liquor, fresh grapefruit and lime, in addition to a selection of new and old school libationsinfused with house-made mixers. Cocktail lovers will rejoice in the robust selection including The Donkey Kongwith Monkey Shoulder Scotch, Banane du Brasil, Orgeat and lime; the Green Eyed Bandit with Avuá Cachaça,fresh kale, cucumber juice and lime; and the Cargo Ship with Ron Zacapa 23, Batavia Arrack, Panther Coffee reduction and mole bitters, served in a Talisker Storm rinsed glass. Those looking to enjoy a light bite with their cocktail can delight in a menu of tropical small plates and fresh seafood. Savory and shareable bites will include Tuna & Salmon Tacos; Grilled Shrimp Skewers with mango salsa; Crispy Oysters; Baby Back Ribs with guava bbq sauce and more.

Nestled on an inviting deck under the stars, the vibrant bar aims to be a go-to hangout for locals, industry pros, Loews Miami Beach Hotel guests and tourists looking to experience a unique side of Miami’s history through drinks. Whether the occasion calls for a catch-up session with friends or an intimate setting for private group events, the airy and inviting tropical space serves as the perfect retreat. With seating for up to 60 guests, imbibers can cozy up in a booth, make new acquaintances at the communal table or mingle while lounging in plush wicker chairs while enjoying the teak wood accents of the expansive bar.
