A real two for one Cuisine and Culture

I initially found this organization through the "10 BEST" website. I have to admit that I was very skeptical of a food TOUR being an enjoyable and palate pleasing adventure. WOW, was my apprehension unjustified! There are hidden gems in this tour: you not only experience a tremendous and tasty cross-section of the many ethnicities in the cuisine of South Beach, but you also see the art deco and learn a little of the history of South Miami - a bonfide "two-for-one special!" Our group was comprised of ten people - a nice size for this intimate look and taste of South Beach. Our guide, Loni, was simply spectacular. A certified "foodie", she has tremendous knowledge of the local cuisine and she gave us a grand tour of the art deco district, along with brief insight on the history of South Miami's "evolution." All delivered with a delightful (and "brilliant") Australian accent, but seemingly perfect pronunciation of the many Cuban, Columbian, Peruvian and other food delicacies to which she introduced us! Our walking tour comprised tastes of many different flavors and countries, weaving us in and out of - and through - the art deco district and its hotels, restaurants and delis. This was a wonderful way to get a feel for the area and its food, all in the time span of less than three hours. We strolled into each location, where we were obviously expected and had our tables and treats waiting for us. It felt like special treatment. We sampled dishes from Columbia, Cuba, Peru, Argentina, among others. We saw wonderful art deco design. We walked along Ocean Drive, bearing the heat, but having brief rests with snack and other samplings in air-conditioned comfort. All in all, we stopped at about 9 or 10 different locations, tasting different foods, pastries and desserts (and Cuban coffee, as well!) along the way. It was nice to have such a variety of foods to taste. Some were okay, some were very good, and a few were simply delicious. Fried, baked, grilled...all fresh, all with local ingredients. ( I would have expected nothing different in any sampling!) I enjoyed the opportunity to sample them all, even though some were not overly impressive. (To be fair, though, the gelato was fantastic!) My favorite - and the most appealing - stop was Espanola Way. This was an intimate "alley" between 14th and 15th Street, filled with small stores and restaurants - many with outside sidewalk seating. Extremely quaint and intimate, not to mention tasty! Loni kept us moving, but kept us informed along the way. I throughly enjoyed this opportunity to experience the location in a new way. We did not have a lot of time otherwise built into our travels for seeing South Beach. This tour provided us a far more satisfying and comprehensive feel for the local culture and cuisine than we could have ever achieved on our own. I recommend you experience South Beach this way!

The food on this tour was varied and delicious. The tour guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Miami and food in general. Great way to taste new places you might now go on your own. We went back to one of the stops twice on our own later in the week. Highly recommended for anyone who likes food!

I highly recommend this food tour for those who have never been to South Beach, MIA. I have been to Miami before, but this was the frist time I learned a little bit about the history and the food. The tour starts at a small cafe on the corner. The young ladies in La Ventanna let me know I was in the right place and allowed me to set at a table while everyone arrived. Once we got started I enjoyed the entire tour. We tasted different drinks and foods while looking at some of the well know tourist attraction on Ocean Dr. Guarantee you won't walk away hungry or empty handed.

We went on the food tour on 5/19/12 and I have to say it was the absolute best thing we did in Miami. The food was delicious, Lani our guide was both knowledgeable and entertaining, and we were able to try out restaurants and cuisines my husband and I would have normally just walked by. This tour was well worth the price and we can't wait to try the Little Havana tour when we go back.

My wife and I had the great pleasure of taking the South Beach Food Tour a couple of weeks ago and have already recommended it to many of our friends. Our guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgable of the highs and lows of SOBE as well as the great venues where we sampled varied specialties. A definate must do in South Beach.

Loved the South Beach tour. Met some wonderful people who were visiting from Scotland and Texas. Our tour guide was great too. The food was wonderful and a very nice variety. Hope to be able to do the Little Havana tour next time we're in the South Florida area.

Not just food! great tour to the architecture and history of the area. You have an intro into the many diverse latin cuisines in the area but also visit the significant architecturally significant buildings of the area. Mirka, the most excellent and enthusiastic guide, explains the significance of the sites and the events which led to the preservation of the area. She also shares the intimate stories of the rich and famous who made this area sos glamourous. We enjoyed this tour so much that we changed our travel plans so we could also enjoy the Little Miami tour.
