Pilo’s Street Taco—A Fast-Casual, Authentic Street Tacos Concept in Brickell

Take your tastebuds on a trip to Mexico with Pilo’s!

MIAMI, FL — Reminiscing about the tacos his late Aunt Pilo made in Mexico during his childhood, Pilo’s founder Derek Gonzalez set out to find the most authentic street tacos in Miami. Unsatisfied with what he came across, Gonzalez opened his first Pilo’s Street Tacos location in 2017, a quick-service restaurant concept centered around its authentic, bold flavors and inclusive environment in the heart of Brickell.

This charmingly modest nook in the midst of Miami’s booming Brickell financial district delivers the authentic Mexican street fare Miami had for so long been missing. Located in the heart of Brickell at 28 SW 11th St, Miami, FL 33130, Pilo’s is petite and hidden-away, making each dining experience there feel like an intimate occasion. With a colorful outdoor-seating patio, guests can sit down and enjoy what Pilo’s has to offer all while enjoying Miami’s beautiful weather. If you’re looking to grab a quick lunch or a late-night bite after hitting the town, Pilo’s Street Tacos is the ideal destination.

Pilo’s menu consists of simple, delicious Mexican dishes that keep you craving more with each bite. Options on the menu are endless, with just about any protein you can think of, from meat and seafood to vegetarian tacos. Items like Birria Tacos: Short ribs of beef tacos stuffed with Chihuahua Cheese and topped with onion & cilantro, and the Carnal Tacos: Michoacán-style pork carnitas with a dash of smoked salsa verde, chopped white onion and cilantro on corn tortilla, will transport your tastebuds to the streets of Mexico. El Pescadito Beer-battered Taco: Crispy beer-battered fillet of white fish topped with pineapple pico de gallo, pickled red cabbage & chipotle mayo on flour tortilla, and the El Costeñito Beer-battered Taco: Crispy beer-battered shrimp topped with pineapple, pickled red onion & avo crema on flour tortilla, are great seafood option if that’s more your style.

Even though the name is Pilo’s Street Tacos, they serve more than just tacos here. With other entree options like the Flautas, Burritos, Piñata, Quesadilla and Alambres, guests will be able to get the full street-dining experience. Don’t forget the starters before digging in, with a variety of savory bites such as the Chips & Salsa, Don Queso Dip, Elotes, Guacamole and others.

More important than just providing great food and drinks, Pilo’s mission goes deeper. Gonzalez’s Aunt Pilo had Down syndrome, but never let it define her. A few short months after Gonzalez opened Pilo’s Street Tacos, Aunt Pilo sadly passed away. Her legacy lives on through Pilo’s employment of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities—known to the Pilo’s team as “special abilities.” The Pilo’s brand helps these individuals achieve their dreams, increase their independence and provides them with meaningful companionship. Pilo’s ultimate goal is to be the largest employer of individuals with special abilities.
