As soon as you walk into Mmmm Restaurant in Wynwood, you feel the homey ambiance. The tour takes us into the patio furnished with outdoor couches, armchairs, and glass dining tables. Immediately, we are presented with bubbly Prosecco. Cheers are in order, of course, because the day promises a celebration of food, culture, and history. The moment is ripe for introductions and diverse conversation.
The restaurant’s name says it all, really. Mmmm Wynwood is mmmm-yummy. The chef specializes in gourmet, open-faced sandwiches, which the menu calls Tartines. Their appearance is reminiscent of flatbreads, but make no mistake; Tartines are an art of their own. Decorated with arugula, basil, and shaved parmesan, thin strips of chicken breast are presented atop toasted sourdough. The second sandwich, a medley of fontina cheese, fresh tomatoes and artichoke dusted in italian herbs is equally delectable.
The last bites are enjoyed, and thanks to flowing conversation, downtime is brief. We are off to the Wynwood Walls...
