MEXICAN URBAN ARTIST SMITHE CREATES MURAL AT CLANDESTINO PUB
First commissioned work of renowned street artist in Miami

Mexican urban artist SMITHE will be creating a mural at Clandestino Pub during the art fairs in Miami Beach. There will be an exclusive Media Reception to meet and greet SMITHE on Monday, December 1. The mural will be unveiled for the public during an Artist’s Reception on Tuesday, December 2 starting at 9 p.m. Clandestino Pub is located at 758 Washington Avenue. Renowned urban artist SMITHE has traveled from Mexico, invited by the owners of Clandestino Pub, to create his first mural in Miami Beach. Influenced by Japanese animé , the graphic style from the 50’s and Sci-Fi movies,at the age of 13 SMITHE begins to paint graffiti just for fun and as a hobby. Autodidactic and evolutionary, attracted by fine arts, the artist has constantly reinvented his own style and over the past years has tried out with many themes on his work such as Existentialism, Individuality of the human being and the machine within. The defragmentation, common symbol on his work, is used as a vehicle to show the inside elements that power his characters and is shown as a surrealistic machine. He is commonly known for his street art but is also involved in other areas such as illustration, design, sculpture and music.

SMITHE has exhibited in Germany, France, Belgium, United Kingdom, Spain, USA and Mexico.

The exhibition and Artist Reception is made possible by support from Instituto Cultural de Mexico Miami, ALMA Agency, and MIA Brewing Company.

Clandestino Pub has been recognized as the destination for the finest collection of mezcals and craft cocktails. Voted by New Times as Best Bar in South Beach in 2013, their true soul shines through the live acts they book, as they focus on booking local bands from South Florida.
