Max’s Grille, the only original restaurant in Mizner Park in Boca Raton, celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year. The famed institution will mark the anniversary by showcasing its just-completed renovation, as well as by hosting an anniversary party for current and former employees. The restaurant reopens tonight for dinner, after undergoing renovations, with a limited menu and will have a full menu beginning tomorrow.
Max’s Grille closed for 10 days for renovations after repairing and repainting ceiling soffits, replacing the kitchen floor, recovering banquettes in deep red tufted leather, replacing the outside patio seating with new wicker chairs and refinishing the outside bar with a white granite top. Subsequent phases of the remodeling will not require the restaurant to close, but will include new lighting, new chairs, a redesign of the inside bar area seating, and a restoration of the bar overhang to its original look from 25 years ago.
The restaurant will hold a 25th Anniversary party on October 6 inviting former and current Max’s Grille employees and will be closed for dinner service that evening.
“Our employees over the years have played a significant role in our success and we look forward to celebrating this milestone with our team as well as the many Max’s Grille alumni in the area,” said partner and co-founder Dennis Max. “We attribute our success to several factors: friendly and efficient staff that makes every guest feel welcome, consistency, high quality food, and location.”
The Max’s Grille’s contemporary menu, paired with a splendid array of wine, is updated daily and seasonally but maintains its popular signature dishes, including meatloaf, radiatore pasta, steaks, grilled fish, chopped salad, and complimentary crispy breadsticks and hummus served to each table. Max’s Grille introduced the chopped salad concept to South Florida, an item that is now found on nearly every restaurant menu in the area.
When Max’s Grille first opened, Boca Raton was not nearly as developed. Town Center Mall had no Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom or Macy’s and many of West Boca’s neighborhoods and East Boca’s condos had yet to be built. “Mizner Park is booming, with the opening of luxury stores and Lord & Taylor, and Downtown Boca Raton is growing as well with the development of two new hotels and residential buildings. We are thrilled to have been here all the years and look forward to another 25 years,” said Max.
Max notes that he frequently hears stories from guests about Max’s Grille milestones: engagements, first dates for couples who are now married, rehearsal dinners, and birthday parties. “One man proposed to his wife on the bench outside of Max’s Grille and he bought the bench from us to have it put in their backyard,” he said.
