Share Our Strength, the country’s leading anti-hunger organization and producer of the highly respected annual culinary benefit, Taste of the Nation, dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the fight to end childhood hunger across America, announces it will merge its Broward and Dade County food and wine events into one grand extravaganza this year. Now called Taste of the Nation South Florida, the region’s premier culinary benefit showcasing the best restaurants and chefs from both counties, the finest wines and spirits, and an impressive array of auction items, will be priced at $125 per person and take place Thursday, July 25, 2013, 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., in the spacious main ballroom of the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. VIP tickets, providing access to the event an hour before the doors open, will be priced at $250 per person.
“For the past 25 years Share Our Strength hosted two events in the region, Taste of the Nation Dade and Taste of the Nation Broward. They were just a few weeks apart, and many of our event-goers, sponsors and participants had to choose which event to attend. Now Taste of the Nation supporters will be able to enjoy the best culinary offerings from both Dade and Broward county at a larger, more exciting event, under one roof, for the price of one ticket,” according to Jamie Balhon, Southeast Regional Manager of Share Our Strength’s culinary events
“Taste of the Nation South Florida will provide a much stronger platform for existing and future sponsors, and is expected to generate a larger group of both participating restaurants and attendees,” says the event’s Restaurant Chair, Chef Timon Baloo, of Sugarcane Raw Bar & Grill, in Miami.
“Last year’s Taste of the Nation Miami-Dade generated about 40 restaurant participants; Taste of the Nation Broward reported 35 restaurant participants. We believe this year’s Taste of the Nation South Florida, will attract at least 50 restaurant participants, and once the seeds are planted, will continue to grow and flourish, which bodes well for raising the critical funds required to end childhood hunger in Dade and Broward counties,” says long-time Taste of the Nation Miami-Dade chairman, Chef Allen Susser, of Burger Bar and Chef Allen’s To-Go, in Miami.
