José Mendín Named One Of The “sexiest Male Chefs In America 2017” By People Magazine

In Tandem with the Magazine’s Annual Sexiest Man Alive Issue

Who/What: On the heels of opening his ambitious new restaurant concept, Habitat at 1 Hotel South Beach, Chef José Mendín has been selected as the only South Florida chef in People Magazine’s “Sexiest Male Chefs in America 2017.”

In recent years, celebrated Chef/Restaurateur José Mendín – who grew to prominence as the face of Miami’s acclaimed Pubbelly Boys and, now heads Food Comma Hospitality Group – has grown to national acclaim for his international culinary pedigree with expertise in cutting-edge Asian and Spanish influenced cuisine. His prowess, ambition, humble character and devotion to his craft have earned him great achievements such as the StarChefs Rising Star Restaurateur Award (2016); and James Beard Foundation nominations for “Best Chef: South” from 2012 – 2016” for five years straight (2012-2016).

About Habitat

Celebrated Chef/Restaurateur José Mendín of Food Comma Hospitality Group will extend his culinary reach with the group’s newest restaurant concept, Habitat, housed inside the ecologically conscious 1 Hotel South Beach. Procuring a powerhouse team of European talent, Chef Mendín has enlisted Michelin starred Spanish Chef and close friend, Angel Palacios as Chef de Cuisine for the exciting new restaurant. The opening of Habitat will signal Palacios’ return to Miami; he was named one of the “Best Chefs in America” by Food & Wine in 2003 for his work in downtown Miami’s La Broche. Also on board: pastry mastermind Chef Patricio Larrea, protégé of Spain’s renowned Chef Oriol Balaguer. Guests will be treated to a menu of sea-inspired fare and perfectly grilled meats that celebrate the sublime, flavorful simplicity of fresh, quality ingredients. To complement, an inventive mixology program will feature signature craft cocktails and place emphasis on enjoyment, along with artistry – an approach very much in tune with the Food Comma Hospitality Group mantra. The restaurant is located at 2395 Collins Avenue. Reservations are recommended and are available via Opentable Telephone: (305) 604-6700;
