The iconic downtown Miami hotel, InterContinental Miami is welcoming Fall with exciting new programming for hotel guests and locals this October. Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations continue for free with bites at Latin Social and dance all weekend long at the first annual Salsa Festival hosted by Salsa Lovers Miami. At the award-winning Pan-Latin steakhouse Toro Toro, indulge in delicious cuisine and honor family connections by experiencing the Día de Los Muertos culinary campaign; treat yourself to a Pink La Bomba in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and celebrate National Taco Day with decadent offerings. Find your flow at a Full Moon Yoga Extravaganza and escape back in time to the Prohibition Era at Freddys Speakeasy.

The following is the monthly schedule of events at the iconic luxury downtown Miami property.

First Annual Salsa Festival

Grab your dancing shoes and get ready for an unforgettable weekend filled with non-stop Salsa dancing, learning, teaching and entertainment at InterContinental Miami’s First Annual Salsa Festival beginning Friday, October 14 through Sunday, October 16. The three-day soiree sizzles with dance workshops, pool parties, a salsa competition and Miami’s hottest Salsa Dance Party, featuring luxury accommodations for two nights and two all-access festival passes. The weekend kicks off on Friday with a welcome pool party from 3PM to 6PM followed by Salsa Night with DJ Jorge Charun, and a salsa competition. Leading up to the first annual Salsa Festival, On Friday, October 14, InterContinental Miami will be hosting a Salsa Competition. The winners of the contest will receive $1,000 and Skyline Dancer of 2023 (first place) and $500 (second place). Registration to participate in the Salsa Competition, with a fee, is now open. On Saturday, the festivities continue with a second pool party featuring live DJ entertainment, plus a variety of master dance classes in the ballroom. Saturday evening will bring the heat with a concert and salsa dance party.

Think Pink with InterContinental Miami

On Monday, October 3 at 6PM, the hotel will commemorate Breast Cancer awareness in a big way with a pink illumination ceremony in the lobby to light the hotel interior pink for the month of October. The ceremony is open to the public to attend and will feature complimentary cocktails and bites, plus special media guest Neki Mohan along with members from Miami Cancer Institute.

In addition, visitors can follow the hotel’s interior pink lighting to Toro Toro, chef/restaurateur Richard Sandoval’s Pan-Latin steakhouse located on the lobby level of the property. Throughout October, Toro Toro is featuring the Pink La Bomba, a pink chocolate half sphere filled with cream cheese mousse, dulce de leche, strawberry ice cream, fresh berries, cookie crumbles and vanilla and berry sauce ($32). 15% of all proceeds from sales of the Pink La Bomba will be donated to BRCAStrong, a 501(c)3 non-profit that aims to support and alleviate the emotional and financial burdens of women facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Celebrate National Taco Day at Toro Toro

Toro Toro, Chef Richard Sandoval’s Pan-Latin Miami steakhouse, is celebrating National Taco Day with an off-menu promotion just for the occasion. On Tuesday, October 4 from Noon to 11PM, guests can indulge in the specialty offerings including Tacos de Nada (Vegan/Vegetarian) topped with potato, white cabbage, pickled red onion, tomato, cilantro and lime ($12); Carnitas Tacos ($13); Braised Chicken ($14); Crispy Shrimp Tacos ($16); Skirt Steak Tacos ($18); and Tuna Tacos ($17). Savor 3 per order or mix and match for $20.

RSH Global Culinary Campaign – Día de Los Muertos

This Fall, Toro Toro and internationally renowned chef Richard Sandoval celebrate our connections to family and friends with a global Día de Los Muertos culinary campaign highlighting the importance of bringing families together through food, drinks and sharing. Guests of Toro Toro will have the opportunity to partake in a culinary journey that showcases Mexican Culture with four elements of nature: earth, water, wind and fire. As part of the month-long campaign which begins on Tuesday, October 4 and will run through Sunday, November 6, Toro Toro will be featuring an exclusive a la carte menu of specials, each with a cultural significance to the celebration, including Tortilla Talavera with green pipian, white mole, grilled cheese, shimeji mushroom al ajillo, and cherry tomato salad ($26); and Seafood Pozole Verde featuring baby squid, shrimp, clams, white corn and marigold cempazuchil oil ($46). For dessert, Pan de Muerto with palo santo smoked butter, a hot chocolate shot and ice cream ($18). The flavorful menu will be accompanied by specialty cocktails for $22 including Vanilla Smoke crafted with Patron Anejo, Liquor 43, agave and lemon zest, using the palo santo smoke method; and Pineapple Mezcal Sour shaken with mezcal, pressed pineapple juice, lime, agave, bitters and fresh pineapple.

Salsa Night Hosted by Salsa Lovers

Dance to express and dress to impress as InterContinental Miami hosts the hottest Salsa Night in downtown Miami in collaboration with Salsa Lovers. On Friday, October 7 from 9PM to 2AM, guests will be transported monthly to a night in Havana via the hotel’s Chopin Ballroom for an evening of dancing, entertainment, and libations. From novice to experienced dancers – and even those who just want to enjoy the music – the free to attend for ladies ($10 cover for men at the door) evening will also feature DJ Jorge Charun spinning Salsa classics, performances and master dance instruction by Salsa Lovers. Valet parking will be $10.

Find your Flow at Papa Guru's Full Moon Yoga

Let go and inhale the positive energy as InterContinental Miami hosts a special edition Full Moon Yoga Extravaganza led by Papa Guru Nicolay Del Salto on Sunday, October 9. Bask under the full moon glow on the hotel’s iconic SkyLawn at 7PM and invigorate your soul with a memorable evening complemented by live tunes by DJ Sage Master Kevin + AV MixByTrip Hunt for Liberation. Attendees will enjoy a yoga flow class as well as sound bowl healing meditation by Sofia Bustillo, a deep meditation weaving mantra and meditation and more, while enjoying views of Downtown Miami and Biscayne Bay. The evening continues after the class, with guests encouraged to stay and connect with others in the community.

Paws Patio

Dogs and their owners ready to mingle, need look no further than the InterContinental’s Bayside Terrace, which becomes Paws Patio every Wednesday evening from 5PM to 7PM. The open-air event is free and open to the public. Water bowls are on hand for all canines, while adults can enjoy Dirty Dog Martinis, Mutt Mules and other libations from the cash bar.

On Wednesday, October 12, treat your pup to a special edition of Paws Patio, DOGA event. Participate in a gentle and meaningful yoga class with your furry friend at 6PM on the hotel’s Bayside Terrace. At DOGA, mats will be given, or guests can bring their own.

On Wednesday, October 26, the hotel is hosting a spooky edition of Paws Patio, Howl-o-Ween Doggie Contest. Get in the Halloween spirit on the Bayside Terrace from 5PM to 7PM, where dogs are encouraged to wear their best Halloween costumes for a chance to win paw-some prizes (and barking rights). First, second and third place winners will be awarded at the event.

New Sushi Bar Pop-Up

Lounge poolside and ramp up your tastebuds with a Sushi Bar Pop-UP every Friday and Saturday from Noon to 6PM. While taking in the stunning Biscayne Bay views on the 5th floor pool deck, enjoy a la carte classic to creative Japanese cuisine featuring highlights including sashimi, specialty rolls, wagyu beef tataki, king crab salad and more. Guests can enjoy this speciality offer for a limited time. Pricing varies.

Step into the Prohibition Era at Freddy’s Speakeasy

InterContinental Miami introduces Freddys Speakeasy, a secret hideaway accessible only by prior arrangement. On every Friday and Saturday guests can have an exclusive experience reflective of the Roaring 20s with the cocktail club’s intimate atmosphere, historic ambiance and meticulously crafted libations. Upon reserving the experience, guests will be provided with instructions on how to access Freddys and will be escorted to the hidden location, where a secret knock will ensure admission. Named for famed 19th century Polish composer and virtuoso pianist Frédéric François Chopin, – whose name adorns both the street the hotel is located on and one of its ballrooms.

Once within, guests are welcomed with a taste of Four Ballads, made with Casa Noble infused with cilantro, Cointreau, fresh lime and simple syrup. Signature cocktails, beginning at $18, include the Green Light made with rich, sweet and smoky decadent blend of Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Green Chartreuse, chocolate bitters, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup; Not Your Mama’s Mamajuana, a unique take on the island of Hispaniola’s fabled drink featuring 1888 Brugal Dominican Rum infused with InterContinental Miami’s herb blend; Envied Elegance featuring Tito’s Vodka, Domaine de Canton, lime, cucumber essence and peach bitters and topped with Peychaud’s bitters; Virtue & Vice, a smooth and pleasantly spice blend of Woodford Rye, lemon juice, Aperol and simple syrup; and Tipsy Whisper featuring Casa Noble, Cointreau, lime juice and lavender reduction.
