Chef Michelle Bernstein Named One of “The 25 Most Influential Women” by People En Español

Award-winning chef and cookbook author, Michelle Bernstein, who owns and operates an ever-growing restaurant empire, was named one of “The 25 Most Influential Women” by People en Español in its October 2011 issue (7 million readers), which is currently available on newsstands in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Mexico. The highly-anticipated, annual magazine issue honors Hispanic women who have risen to the top of their fields, be it politics, pop culture, sports, or science.

“I am humbled to be in such beautiful company,” says Bernstein. “Cooking is my passion and it truly fulfills me. I’m so happy doing what I do, and it thrills me that my work brings joy and happiness to others as well.”

In addition to Bernstein, other women honored include: U.S. Supreme Court judge Sonia Sotomayor, talk show host Cristina Saralegui, international superstar Gloria Estefan, award-winning book author Isabel Allende, designer Isabel Toledo, journalist and author Maria Celeste Arraras, among many others.

A Miami native of Jewish and Latin descent, Chef Michelle Bernstein is a passionate culinaire, who has dazzled diners and critics alike with her sublime cuisine and stellar personality since she first entered the culinary spotlight in the 1990’s. Right now, diners are enjoying Bernstein’s cuisine at her three successful Miami outposts, Michy’s, Sra. Martinez, and Crumb on Parchment, which she owns and operates with her partner/husband David Martinez. Sporting distinctly different styles and cuisines, all display the earnestness, passion and dedication that have made Bernstein one of the region’s brightest culinary stars. In addition to an ever-growing restaurant empire – Michelle Bernstein at The Omphoy in Palm Beach County, Florida opened fall 2009 – Bernstein recently helped launch the Miami chapter of Common Threads, an after-school program dedicated to teaching underprivileged kids ages 8-11 to cook, socialize, and eat healthy. Most recently, the duo launched MBC (Michelle Bernstein Catering) for events and private parties and her signature collection of cookware and cutlery sets "Michelle B" through Fagor America.
