Life gets boring sometimes and I count with food for that extra kick. I know pretty much every restaurant in Miami but to find a good brunch in this city is hard. I live across the street from Mercadito (I know, I am lucky). The restaurant options in Midtown are restricted (at least for a foodie like me), and Mercadito has always delivered. So here I am back with my husband long story), actually I have been married for 10 years and although my husband doesn't like to go out to eat (can you believe that?), I always drag him here and there and lately he has been so good, he comes with me to different restaurants, doesn't complain and just pretends he is having a good time (but I know he can't wait for the check to arrive to go back home). Well, he is a computer guy, he enjoys working in our apartment overlooking Miami and order food from Sakaya Kitchen (not me).
It was a beautiful Sunday morning, fresh air for a change as I hate Miami in the summer but now is when every Miamian feels it's worth to suffer the heat for 6 months.
Now at Mercadito they have a pretty good deal for brunch and this is a great choice on a city that lacks good brunch options. For $18 you get a family style brunch where you can choose three items for the table, then order one drink per person. They call it the "perfect hangover cure" and it is just that!
This dish was both delicate and delicious. It had a bed of crispy potato, braised pork to perfection with a fried egg on top and sauteed onions. The pork was salty, juicy and crispy all at the same and the egg was done to my taste.
What I love about Mercadito Midtown is that the service is fast, the place is clean and the attention from the managers is impeccable. As we were leaving, a band was starting to play (yes, a live band believe it or not).
