2015 marks the 14th anniversary for the Food Network and Cooking Channel South Florida Wine and Food Festival presented by Food and Wine, an event-filled weekend dedicated to featuring the world’s most talented and renowned food and hospitality personalities in one city. Throughout the weekend, you will have the opportunity to attend these events, in which industry professionals will showcase their craft, answer questions, and offer samples for those attending to try.
Events offered include those on a private level or something more grandiose. For those looking for something more personal, the festival offers private dinners such as the Star Power Dinner hosted by Scott Conant, Stephanie Izard, and Jamie Bissonette. Events such as these allow diners to indulge in a carefully crafted menu that is prepared and served by the headlining chefs. Larger events include the annual Burger Bash, Best of the Best, Chicken Coupe, and Meatopia amongst others. These events allow the attendees to sample small plates from dozens of stations in a party-like atmosphere that is only accentuated by the environment that South Beach manages to provide.
The festival’s signature event, The Grand Tasting Village, is an on-the-beach event that follows the same theme of all the other happenings. Just like every other event, guests have the possibility to sample daring cuisine, chic wines, and carefully creative spirits. What sets the Grand Tasting Village apart is the Grand Tasting Demos that allow attendees to watch and learn from their favorite cooking personalities.
Even on a weekend like this, Miami lives up to its reputation as one of America’s best cities for nightlife by hosting late night events for those looking for a first-rate time out. Everything continues to be food and drink themed, with events like Death By Chocolate: A Dessert Party hosted by Dominique Ansel and Bobby Flay’s Caribbean Heat headlining.
Although the festival’s name may make it seem like all the events take place in sunny South Beach, the rest of the city is also host to some of the best moments the festival has to offer. The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables is home to Swine and Wine, Old Cutler hosts Surf and Turf: A Sustainable Seafood Dinner, and Wynwood is transformed for Medianoches and Mixology.
Whether you enjoy intimate events, grand-scale festivals, demonstrations, nightlife, or events for children, there is something for everyone during the festival.
