Driving To Little Havana

Miami is not known for their good drivers so it’s important that when you are behind the wheel you are attentive and aware of your surroundings. Miami is composed of a blend of drivers from different cultures, visitors not knowing where they are going, and pedestrians not looking before they walk across a street, which can create a lot of confusion on the roadways. Traffic laws are not always followed and people are not very patient so watch for pedestrians and remain calm. If you are not comfortable driving in Miami, you can utilize public transportation, taxis, shuttles, or tour buses.

SW 8th Street has several different names so if you are using a GPS and it does not recognize the address / street you are using use one of the other street names. SW 8th Street is also known as Calle Ocho, US Route 41, or the Tamiami Trail.

Car rental

Cars can be rented from the Miami International Airport as well as freestanding car rental agencies throughout Miami. If you want to ride in style while you in South Florida, you can rent a luxury car such as a Rolls-Royce or Bentley from one of the high-end rental agencies.

Parking

Little Havana has many parking areas for visitors some of which are listed below. Free parking can be found in several areas in and around Little Havana including Lot 82 in the Cultural District as well as along some residential streets. A 20% discounts is available to City of Miami residents when utilizing Pay By Phone payment process.

Lot 82: Parking Lot behind Domino Park / Adjacent to Domino Plaza

Enter Lot 82 (901 SW 15th Ave) on 14th Avenue near SW 8th Street. If you turn onto 14th Avenue from SW 8th Street drive past the McDonalds and turn into the second driveway. The parking lot has a blue MPA sign designating the parking area.

Lot 28 (351 SW 7th Street): Parking Lot under I-95

Enter lot 28 from SW 4th Avenue and parking will be between SW 6th Street and SW 7th Street. . There is a $5 flat rate parking charge and the lot is open from 7am – 7pm on Monday – Sunday.

Lot 29 (350 SW 7th Street): Parking Lot under I-95

Enter lot 29 from SW 4th Avenue and parking will be between SW 7th Street and SW 8th Street. There is a $5 flat rate parking charge.

Parking Lot next to the Cuban American Social Club

The parking lot sits on the corner of SW 7th Street and SW 16th Avenue. This lot is available to the public when there is an attendant collecting $5.00 to park. If there is no attendant, then the parking becomes residential permit parking and you will be towed if you park in the lot.

Lot 44 is located between SW 6th Street & SW 7th Street and SW 16th Avenue and SW 17th Avenue
