Miami Springs own Crackers Casual Dining featured in Cooking Channel’s Road trip with Garvin G.
Get ready Miami! On Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 9pm, Miami’s eateries that serve southern style dishes will be the feature of Road Trip with Garvin G. on The Cooking Channel. Crackers Casual Dining, 78 Canal Street, Miami Springs,FL, which is about to celebrate their 2nd anniversary, will be one of the three restaurants to have dishes highlighted by the host.
Showing off their maple glazed pork chop, signature sweet potato mash and from scratch daily desserts, Crackers was honored to be chosen to feature their southern style dishes that offer a Floridian flair. Offering a location that is truly Miami style with a giant outdoor Chickee Hut patio and backyard garden filled with picnic tables, climbing flowering vines, eclectic garden décor, it has become a destination known for good food, friendly service, that offers an escape from the Miami hustle and bustle without having to drive to the Florida Keys.
About three months ago, The Cooking Channel filming crew came to the restaurant in the early morning hours and filmed owner, Jeff Mitnick showing off the from scratch methods used to create the maple glaze and sweet potato mash and the love poured into preparing his pork chops for customers. His wife, Jo Mitnick prepared Cracker’s signature dessert, Fried Bread Pudding and explained how it was a dish she learned to make from her mother and added her own touch with frying it and adding ice cream and a caramel drizzle.
“It’s an honor and a thrill to be recognized for my family’s hard work” said Jeff Mitnick “ we put all we have into starting this business and to get a national show to highlight what we offer is the biggest pat on the back for me, my wife and kids.” The Mitnick’s have over 30 years of combined experience in the restaurant business, Jeff runs the back of the house and Jo runs the front of the house, their daughters also work onsite with the eldest waitressing and the younger girls taking turns busing during the busy times. The family service extends to getting to know their customers and personally thanking each table who visits.
Crackers Casual Dining is open Tuesday – Friday from 11.30am -10pm, Saturday 9am – 10pm and Sundays 9am – 9pm. Their weekend brunch offers Captain Crunch French Toast, Eggs Benedict specials and platters like The Whole Hog. During the week, each night in addition to the regular menu offers two signature entrée specials and the cake and cobbler of the day.
