Fall arrives at the Social Hall this month and not a moment too soon. As the weather starts to cool and the summer comes to an end, Concrete Beach Brewery celebrates the new season with its second-annual Blocktoberfest celebration. The event marks the return of the brewery’s popular Floridafest Oktoberfest-style lager. Here’s what’s happening in the Social Hall and beyond…
Blocktoberfest
Saturday, September 10th
2PM-6PM
Free
Concrete Beach Brewery celebrates the great German tradition of Oktoberfest with its second-annual Blocktoberfest celebration. The event marks the launch of Floridafest, Concrete Beach Brewery’s Oktoberfest-inspired lager (description below). Guests are encouraged to get their oompah on with the Larry Roberts Polka Band. Oktoberfest-inspired food will be offered, including special handmade sausages by Miami Smokers. And what’s an Oktoberfest celebration without traditional games like the pretzel toss, a pretzel eating competition, a pretzel eating relay race and a stein hoisting contest to challenge those beer muscles?
In recognition of September being Hunger Action Month, one dollar from every pint of beer sold during Blocktoberfest will be donated to Feeding South Florida, the leading domestic hunger-relief organization in South Florida (with a maximum donation of $1,000). During the month of September, Concrete Beach guests are also encouraged to bring in nonperishable food items. Those who bring in three or more items will get their first beer for only $2.

Floridafest is Concrete Beach Brewery’s take on a classic German Märzen with a tropical twist. This copper-hued Oktoberfest lager opens up with aromas of subtle coconut, followed by notes of toffee and vanilla. Undertones of toasted coconut and biscuit round out this smooth, medium-bodied beer.

Hops:Hallertau and TettnangIBU: 25
Availability:
Floridafest will be available on draft at the Social Hall and in select restaurants and bars starting in early September, and will also be available in six packs of 12oz cans in stores, such as Total Wine, select Whole Foods, ABC, and Milam’s supermarkets, Stop n Shop by the University of Miami, as well as where fine craft beer is sold.
