Concrete Beach Brewery Introduces New Head Brewer

Concrete Beach Brewery is proud to introduce Marco Reyna as its new head brewer. Marco will be responsible for leading the team that develops and brews Concrete Beach Brewery’s lineup of artisanal craft beers in their state-of-the-art, 20-barrel, Wynwood-based brewery.

From his first sip of pale ale, Marco knew what he wanted to do for a living. He spent several years homebrewing and volunteering at respected breweries such as Goose Island and Half Acre Beer Company in his hometown of Chicago. His hard work landed him an internship at Revolution Brewing, which eventually led to a full-time brewing position. Four years later, Marco moved to craft beer hotbed Asheville, North Carolina, where he worked as the head pub brewer at Wicked Weed Brewing. Managing a team of four brewers, he was responsible for brewing beer for the 26 taps in Wicked Weed’s pub and helping with the brewery’s sour program.

Marco is a self-proclaimed brewing traditionalist. He especially enjoys brewing German and European style beers, from lagers to hefeweizens. Marco was part of the team that created Pernicious IPA, which won a silver medal at Great American Beer Festival last year in the highly competitive American IPA category. Beers he has been involved with have also won awards at World Beer Cup and the growing Festival of Wood and Barrel-Aged Beers in Chicago.

“I’m really looking forward to becoming a part of the Miami craft beer scene. There’s an energy here that doesn't really exist in places like Chicago and Asheville. Beer in Miami is evolving so quickly and there’s a great deal of creativity and experimentation, which I love,” said Marco. “Concrete Beach has been brewing great beers in a wide range of styles and utilizing some really interesting local ingredients, and I look forward to jumping right in and playing a part in what’s next.”
