WHO: Chefs Michelle Bernstein (Michy’s, Sra. Martinez and Michelle Bernstein at The Omphoy) and Paula DaSilva (1500° at the Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach) have come together to support Common Threads, a nonprofit which serves 4 elementary schools in Miami. Started in 2003, Common Threads teaches low-income children (ages 8-12 years old) to cook wholesome and affordable meals because we believe that through our hands-on cooking classes we can help prevent childhood obesity and reverse the trend of generations of non-cookers, while celebrating our cultural differences and the things people all over the world have in common. Common Threads currently serves over 4,000 students and parents annually nationwide in Chicago, Miami, Washington, DC and Los Angeles.
WHAT: Join the celebrity chefs for an afternoon of delicious fare at 1500° where the hand-crafted artesian dishes demonstrate meticulous preparation and fresh flavor combinations that evoke the senses and accentuate the unparalleled flavor of fresh farm ingredients. Guests may mix & mingle amongst Miami’s finest all while supporting the mission of Common Threads. Guests will be treated to a one-of-a-kind multi-course lunch including Chef Bernstein’s first course – spring vegetable ragout with tomato butter and poached egg – followed by Chef DaSilva’s char broiled skirt steak with smoked baby potato salad, brasing greens and chimichurri and concluding with a selection of pastries for dessert.
