Cellar 1954 Wine & Dinner Series at the Fontainebleau

CELLAR 1954 WINE & DINNER SERIES AT FONTAINEBLEAU

PRESENTS AN EVENING WITH CHATEAU MONTELENA & LA SIRENA

Miami Beach, Fla. (March 25, 2014) – Fontainebleau Miami Beach proudly presents the 2014 return of Cellar 1954 Wine & Dinner Series on April 1, 2014. Paying homage to the inception of Fontainebleau Miami Beach in 1954, the monthly event effortlessly pairs the world’s most prestigious wines and winemakers with the award-winning cuisine of Fontainebleau Miami Beach’s signature dining destinations. Kicking off the second year of Cellar 1954 Wine & Dinner Series are Napa Valley’s infamous Chateau Montelena and La Sirena Wineries.

The first dinner in the series, takes place on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at FB Steakhouse, combines a decadent five-course menu with wines hand-selected and presented by Bo and Heidi Barrett, owners of both esteemed wineries. Seating for the dinner is limited and priced at $275 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. The evening will begin at 7:30 p.m. with 2013 Montelena Sauvignon Blanc and 2012 La Sirena Moscato Azul with hors d’oeuvres on the restaurant’s patio. In the private dining room, each course will be paired with the highly rated, award-winning vintages from Sirena and Montelena.

Established in 1882 by Alfred L. Tubbs, Chateau Montelena has a rich history of producing fine wine in Napa Valley for over a century. By 1896 the winery was the seventh largest in Napa Valley however; winemaking came to an end with the Prohibition. After Prohibition was repealed, Tubbs continued to harvest the vineyard until finally selling the winery in 1958 to York and Jeanie Frank who were looking for a nice quiet place to retire. The next chapter begins with the renaissance of Chateau Montelena once Jim Barrett took over and had the entire vineyard cleared and replanted. In 1972, wines were made once again and years later this celebrated family-owned winery continues to thrive with Jim’s son Bo Barrett now at the helm.

In 1994, Bo Barrett and his wife Heidi created La Sirena Winery with their first harvest of Sangiovese wine. Derived from the Italian and Spanish word for “the Mermaid,” La Sirena has been producing some of the finest California wines for a decade. Today, the winery focuses on making three varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Muscat Canelli. All the wines are hand-made with care, produced in small batches with the highest quality in mind.
