A few years ago, the area was not necessarily a highly-regarded location as a dining hotspot, but today, dinner around Midtown and Design District may lead you to some of the best food Miami has to offer. Here are our recommendations for the best places in the area.

Oak Tavern

Seeing the giant oak outside of this architecturally beautiful restaurant will quickly answer question as to why this restaurant carries the name that it does, giving the location a comfortable atmosphere. Large tables made of wood advocate feelings of family, as the communal table is the centerpiece for a place showcasing its modern american tavern-style menu.

Walk into this restaurant decorated in a lively royal blue and prepare to indulge in Bernstein's modern takes on classic dishes like Short Ribs and Carbonara. Although everything on the menu is delicious, we recommend partaking in the True Michy’s Experience ($70) where you will sample your way through chef’s tasting menu.
6927 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33138

Considered an urban dining experience, Gigi offers the opportunity for diners to enjoy a casual and communal dinner in which dishes are brought out for the table to indulge, allowing for a tapas-style meal that brings those involved closer together. Gigi has become a local hotspot for its highly-regarded asian buns, especially the duck version. The eclectic atmosphere and hip vibe lead to a truly unique experience. Gigi's soft-serve is a perfect ending to a meal, as it epitomizes that the restaurant does not take itself too seriously and just wants its patrons to enjoy themselves.

Mandolin Aegean Bistro

This restaurant basically begs you to dine al fresco, staying true to the regions where its food is inspired from. Focusing on Greek and Turkish cuisine, Mandolin Aegean Bistro follows the philosophy that it is a restaurant where the ingredients should be let to speak freely. Nothing is overly-complex, and the service and most romantic feel in the area will lead to an experience unlike anything else in the city.

MC Kitchen

Impeccable service and the elegant, yet warm and inviting decor make it obvious that great care and attention to detail have gone into MC Kitchen's design. Serving modern Italian cuisine, MC Kitchen offers seasonal dishes acquired through the use of green market sensibility. Start with the octopus and risotto appetizer and continue through your meal with the Bucatini a la Carbonara, a simple yet expertly-prepared dish highlighting the soul of the restaurant.
