Nestled on the southern stretch of South Beach’s buzzy Alton Road, Macchialina reigns as one of Miami’s most approachable, chef-driven eateries. Garnering repeat visits from A-list celebrities and Miami locals alike, the restaurant’s buzz lies in its ability to offer guests masterfully prepared, rustic Italian dishes, expertly crafted cocktails and an award-winning wine selection all under one roof. Now, fans of the neighborhood gem can enjoy the Macchialina magic at home with the Macchialina Wine Collective.
Spearheading Macchialina’s nationally-acclaimed wine program is Managing Partner and Italian-wine devotee, Jacqueline Pirolo. Named one of Wine Spectator’s “9 Small but Mighty Wine Lists” and “Best Contemporary Wine Menu” by Gambero Rosso in December 2021, Jacqueline’s impressive selection of wines are sourced exclusively from estate-grown grapes and boutique growers – many quite rare and hard to find in the States. Jacqueline and her team of seasoned wine savants also manage the Macch Wine Shop. Here, guests can stop by before or after their meal to stock up on extremely hard-to-find bottles for around 50% off the list price.
“I’m always encouraging guests to step out of their comfort zone and take the road less traveled when it comes to wine, so for me, the Macchialina Wine Collective is certainly a passion project,” says Jacqueline. “There’s a whole world of wine out there and I want our members to discover something they may never come across on their own.”
Members of the Macchialina Wine Collective can expect a themed selection of wines from boutique growers, hand-selected by Jacqueline and her team. Members can tailor their subscription to include two, four or six bottles each month. Apart from these exceptional wines – oftentimes made from overlooked grapes grown in underappreciated regions – each bottle contains a unique QR code providing a brief description of the monthly theme and tasting notes. Past themes have highlighted rare varietals, regions and seasons and some themes have been loose, highlighting “Female Winemakers” and others very specific like “Expat Varietals from US Wineries”, needless to say no two bottles will ever repeat. Boxes also include an artisanal treat from Chef Michael Pirolo – usually something jarred and/or preserved such as eggplant caponata or blueberry mostarda.
In addition, Macchialina Wine Collective members receive first dibs on limited-run dishes at the restaurant along with priority access to Macchialina’s special events. This is the quintessential Miami Beach wine club offers local pickup and delivery to most of Miami-Dade County for just $15. Learn more about how to join HERE.
