For the best eats this weekend has to offer, these are the restaurants we recommend.

Jefe’s Fish Tacos and Burgers

Back when the food truck craze was in full effect, there were a handful of businesses that screamed authenticity, professionalism, creativity, and actual value for what you were paying. Within these trucks was Sakaya Kitchen, Gatropod, Latin House, La Camaronera, and of course, Jefe’s Fish Taco’s and Burgers. Fast forward a couple of years and some of those trucks began opening brick-and-mortar locations. Jefe’s is the most recent truck to claim to now operate in an actual restaurant, a fact that has all of Miami excited. Just as the restaurant’s name states, their specialty is non-pretentious street food elevated to a gourmet level. Their fish tacos ($2.35 each) are a lesson in simplicity, made on soft corn tortillas and stacked with beer battered crispy fish, fresh green cabbage, pico de gallo, and housemade crema. Although this may not sound any different than your usual fish taco, Jefe’s executes every component perfectly to create a taco worth raving about. The standout item is the fish, battered and seasoned perfectly enough where it does not get lost under the other items. If burgers are more your thing, go for their Double Cheezer Miami Style ($6.65), a double burger with deli style American cheese stacked high with double tomato, double lettuce, double pickle, double onion, and double Jefe boss sauce, an addictive thousand island-esque sauce that makes anything taste incredible.

Miss Saigon Bistro

This is the last week of Coral Gables Restaurant Week, a month-long event that gives you the opportunity to sample the best menu items restaurants in Coral Gables has to offer at discounted prices. This week, we recommend Miss Saigon Bistro for a taste of Vietnam. Vietnamese food is known for its delicate, yet pronounced, flavors through the use of fresh herbs and ingredients. This allows for the integrity of the ingredients to speak for themselves. The appetizer course at Miss Saigon includes a selection of rolls highlighting the seasons or dumplings such as pork or shrimp shumai. The entrees are more adventurous, with vegetarian friendly meals such as Buddha’s Rice Noodle Bowl or the heartier Chicken Lemongrass dish cooked with a touch of curry. The desserts are not very Vietnamese-inspired, but that does not make them any less delicious. Choose from carrot cake, chocolate cake, or thai donuts for an indulgent way to round out your meal. For $30 (excluding tax and gratuity), this is one of the best deals you can get in the city this week.

Fado Irish Pub

This Irish Pub is THE place to go to for USA World Cup games, and this Thursday’s game against Germany is sure to be a nail biter. The American Outlaws, the most loyal group of fans for USA’s soccer team, choose Fado as their go-to for World Cup matches, so that in itself should speak about the atmosphere this pub has to produce. For the past two games, Fado has been packed to capacity, forcing it to close its doors from how full it was. That is why we recommend that you come at least and hour early before the game. That way, you will be guaranteed a seat. With complimentary face painting, you are sure to have a good time. Just like any other Irish Pub, the drink to get is Guinness, an Irish beer ruby red in color with a creamy roasted flavor. Chase the beer down with their fish and chips ($15.95), lightly battered haddock served with your choice of thick or thin cut chips, tartar sauce and house-made slaw.

BC Cafe

Just like Jefe’s, BC Cafe is the classic food truck turned brick and mortar story. Although their menu is always offering delectable and creative eats such as their The Gatherer ($4), fried avocado taco, served with lettuce, shredded mozzarella cheese and chipotle mayo, this week’s available tacos are even better. This Saturday, BC Cafe is hosting a bacon taco night with taco shells made out of bacon. You read that right, instead of just putting bacon in your taco the tortilla itself is actually made from bacon. With a vessel like this, they will be able to produce menu items such as a highly creative take on surf and turf, with a scallop taco actually enveloped in bacon. The bacon taco starts with a bacon shell, which is filled with seared scallops, white bean puree, gremolate, and arugula ($7). If bacon tortilla shells just doesn’t seem like your thing, that night will also offer more classic tacos, such as a filet mignon taco with boursin and brie cheese spread, onion jam, asparagus and radish slaw ($6)and a duck l'orange taco, with puffed wild rice, green beans, sweet potato puree, and orange segments ($5).

For a little over a year, Tongue and Cheek has been one of South Beach’s hottest eating destinations. Although the food is of high-quality and expertly prepared, Chef Jamie DeRosa still manages to produce an affordable menu that allows all diners to sample their way through his creative takes on Americana cuisine. Tongue and Cheek has an amazing happy hour in which to indulge and catch a World Cup game or two. With $4 Craft Beers, $5 Appetizers and $8 Cocktails, you cannot go wrong.
