Getting into the fixed price menu promotion spirit, American Social Brickell has just launched a “better-than-spice” deal that is worth checking out. Similar to the annual Miami Spice promotion that is so anticipated, American Social’s menu includes three courses at a discounted price throughout the months of August and September.
For just $34, you have the choice between three appetizers, three entrees, and one dessert to choose from to make the ideal meal for yourself. I started with the Cuban Cigars, which feature garlic and citrus roasted pork loin, Emmenthal Swiss cheese, and kosher pickles wrapped in wonton and fried a la egg roll. Topped with pickled carrot and cilantro and served with a pickled Dijon mustard dipping sauce, this appetizer held a perfect resemblance to the Cuban Sandwich Miami has become iconic with.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Herb Roasted Chicken as an entrée, as this was the best dish I had all night at American Social. Deboned, sliced and then laid atop a bed of creamy polenta and ratatouille, the roasted chicken was succulent and flavorful, served skin on and doused in a vin blanc sauce that added freshness and acidity to a decadent dish. The polenta was rich and luscious, making the somewhat casual dish seem refined. Not only was this the best dish of the night, it was the best dish I have had at American Social in a few visits since their grand opening.
The berry cobbler was a properly executed rendition of a seasonal favorite, providing a comforting finish to an already great meal. When it comes to warm desserts, I feel like a la mode is a must, and American Social did not deviate. It was an exquisite way to end the night.
Overall, Social Spice is something that everyone should make the effort to try within the next two months. Not only will you be enjoying a delicious meal in what I would consider to be one of the best restaurant settings in the city, but you will also save some money doing so. Pair your dishes with a draft beer from their extensive selection, and you’ll be sure to have a great time.
