Brunch at Bulla Gastrobar
Walking into Bulla, you may get the sense that the concept is based mostly on the bar program, but you would only be somewhat correct. Although the bar is the center of attraction, the kitchen at Bulla does not let the alcohol take all the recognition. The gastronomic creations coming out of the Spanish-influenced kitchen are simple but expertly prepared, making Bulla (which is slang for “chatter”) a great choice when it comes to dining, especially for brunch. Authentic and delectable choices such as PATATAS BRAVAS ($7) are a must, featuring crispy potato cubes, spicy brava sauce, and aioli, but for a more familiar and filling meal, go with the COCHINILLO HASH ($17), shredded suckling pig, organic poached egg, breakfast potatoes, and garlic confit. The alcohol selections are on par quality-wise with the menu choices, with drinks like the Sangria Blanca made with peach schnapps, triple sec, fresh strawberries and blueberries. So grab a drink, order some authentic Spanish cuisine, and enjoy your time on the outside terrace. It’s the perfect setting for a scrumptious brunch.

The Broken Shaker, a James Beard award-nominated bar tucked within the Freehand Miami Hostel features handcrafted cocktails concocted with the use of specialty homemade syrups and infusions from garden herbs, exotic and local ingredients, and fresh produce. Needless to say, if you’re looking for a top-notch drink in Miami, look no further than this deceivingly simple bar. You can’t go wrong with any cocktail you choose to partake in, but maybe you should start with some of the bar’s rotating punch, a selection that changes everyday. The Broken Shaker recently began offering “eats and treats” on their menu. Forget all preconceived notions of greasy bar food just used as a way to soak up the alcohol that you are ingesting. At the Broken Shaker, the menu is carefully selected and expertly prepared, with items like House Made Ricotta ($8) and a Cheese Board labeled as “Cured ($18),” with Zak the Baker Bread as the base. We recommend the Burger ($15), a half-pound black angus beef patty topped with sharp cheddar, drunken onions, and house cured bacon on a toasted brioche bun. Although simple, it has a backyard grilled taste that is reminiscent of a family BBQ but with highly sourced ingredients.

Red, The Steakhouse
Nothing screams out “Dad” just like a properly cooked, succulent, bone-in steak, so Red, The Steakhouse seems like an obvious choice for where to celebrate your father. The wine selection is extensive and used as a decoration lining the glass-covered wall, making for an atmosphere Dad is bound to enjoy. The experience is first-rate (as a steak house should be), with professional and attentive staff, a chic ambiance, and clientele ranging from Lebron James to other local celebrities. Treat Dad to a 48 oz. Porterhouse and pair it with an expertly selected wine with suggestions from the servers. Get Macaroni and Cheese as a side and finish the meal with a selection of Red’s homemade donuts. If your father is not too keen on red beef, go for the seafood. It may seem odd to suggest seafood at a steakhouse, but few places place so much attention and care to the freshness of their fish as Red. Either way, Red, The Steakhouse is the perfect place to celebrate Father’s Day.

The week of June 9,2014 marks the first week of Coral Gables Restaurant week, which means specials abound and delectable eats at bargain prices. Ortanique on the Mile, Cindy Hutson’s pride and joy, is one of the best options when it comes to partaking in this month-long event. Constantly overlooked due to new openings on a regular basis, Ortanique has been serving unique and ambitious food to Coral Gables patrons since 1999. Ortanique focuses on serving “Cuisine of the Sun,” meaning that its dishes come from a blending of nations with the freshest ingredients available. Dinner ($39) gives you a three-course meal that allows you to savor your way through the menu. Unlike restaurants that do not offer much value with these types of promotions, Ortanique allows patrons to choose from their most popular dishes. With entrees like the Sauteed Grouper Marinated in Teriyaki and Sesame Oil With an Ortanique Orange Liqueur and Bacardi Limon Sauce, topped with Steamed Seasoned Chayote and Carrots on a Citrus Sweet Plantain-Boniato Mash and Mangos Tres Leches as dessert, you cannot go wrong.

Giorgio Rapicavoli’s newest venture offers a fun atmosphere with appetizing food for you to enjoy during all NBA Finals games. Why go to a bar to catch the game on regular TVs with greasy food when you can partake in a full-on watch party being held on a high-definition projection screen? Instead, indulge in Rapicavoli’s takes on Catalan cuisine, with game specials ($2-$18) inspired by Miami Heat’s “Big Three.” Try the sweet-n-sour D-Wade Duck Wings; King J Croquetas with truffle, manchego, arroz Valencia and aioli; and the B.O.S.H. Burger – a beef patty topped with Bleu cheese, Onion jam, Serrano ham and Heirloom tomato. Taperia Raca’s Regular Menu Will Be Served During Heat Playoff Games As Well.
